MBSA Student Handbook
Sponsors MessageAs the sponsor of the MBSA club, I want to welcome all MCHS students, regardless of their ethnic background. I feel that many students have a lot to express concerning issues within the African American community and how it effects students in our school. We are all unique and I think there is often a miseducation of the struggles that marginalized groups face. That, however, doesn’t give anyone the right to discriminate against others. My goal is to encourage students to embrace the diverse world in which we live and hold those who try to dismantle that accountable. We were made uniquely and to bring color into this world, regardless of how other people see us. I believe Martin Luther King Jr. said it best, “Don’t judge me Based on the color of my skin, but on the content of my character”.

Minooka Black Student Association (MBSA) is a student initiated group started by then junior Brittani Collins. Our goal is to create a safe and unified space for students to learn about African American culture, social justice and privilege. MBSA aims to promote cultural awareness and community involvement. We believe that in order to create change and be effective leaders, we must fully engage with our community. We hope to educate our peers and staff members on a number of issues that minority students on campus face: more importantly, what they can do to help. In addition, MBSA will strive to provide its members with opportunities for leadership development. Minooka Black Student Association will be governed by 4 executive officers, which will include: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. In addition, committees to complete specific tasks will be formed if deemed necessary. Meetings for MBSA will begin at 3:15pm every other Wednesday in room 199 at central campus (end of math hallway). VIRTUES of MA'AT DEFINITIONS
